Who We Are
About EWEDEO
EWEDEO: the Edig Wide Education and Development Expansion Organisation: is a community-based organisation (CSO) rooted in the Edig community of Ethiopia. We bring together Edig people, including diaspora members, around a shared commitment to education and holistic community development.
For over two decades our community has championed education at every level: encouraging young people to stay in school, identifying and supporting students who have had to drop out, and celebrating academic excellence through our annual award ceremonies, the longest-running pillar of our work.
Beyond education, EWEDEO collaborates with local government to rehabilitate deteriorating schools, address water scarcity in rural areas, and improve road connectivity that links Edig communities to wider Ethiopia. Formally registered as a CSO on May 23, 2022, EWEDEO gives lasting structure to the community-driven effort our members have sustained for generations.
